Dear  colleague,

We are contacting you with regard to the project ‘Gender Specific Mechanisms in Coronary Artery Disease in Europe’ (GenCAD) funded by the European Union (Tender No. SANCO/2014/C1/008; PI: Prof. Vera Regitz-Zagrosek) and conducted in cooperation with the European Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (EACPR) and the European Public Health Association (EUPHA).

The vision of the GenCAD project is to close a gender gap in European medicine and to improve cardiovascular health of women and men in all societal groups throughout Europe.

The GenCAD project will work towards promoting good health by preventing and more efficiently treating coronary artery disease by accounting for sex and gender differences.

A major objective of the GenCAD project is to review member state policies for coronary artery disease prevention and treatment. Gender analysis will be conducted of available documents, i.e. health policy documents, health plans, clinical guidelines and funding policies in all EU member states.

We would like to invite you as an expert in cardiovascular disease to contribute in the GenCAD project by participating in a survey. You will be asked to complete questionnaires on gender and coronary heart disease policies and strategies.

The level 1 questionnaire aims to identify national policy documents, health plans and clinical guidelines relating to coronary artery disease and gender. The level 2 questionnaire aims to obtain information on sex and gender aspects from these policy documents, health plans and clinical guidelines.

With this information it is our aim to increase the knowledge of the state of policy for coronary artery disease prevention and treatment in your country. Confidentiality is guaranteed in this questionnaire survey.

As a small compensation of their work, we will be happy to include the contributing experts in a workshop of the GENCAD project to be held at the EUPHA conference 2015 in Milan October 14th to 18th. The topic of this workshop will be “Gender differences in coronary artery disease throughout Europe”. Experts will present major findings related to this topic and we will involve discussants from all European member states based on their interests in this field. We will cover travel fees up to 300 €, 2 nights in a hotel (up to 300 €) and registration to the EUPHA conference.

Please click here to complete the level 1 questionnaire and email nicholas.alexander@charite.de by July 24th to confirm your attendance at the Milan meeting. You will subsequently obtain the level 2 questionnaire along with further information.

We would greatly appreciate your support and look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks for considering our invitation.

With kind regards,

Prof. Vera Regitz-Zagrosek
